Vaginal Infections
Bacterial vaginosis and candida vaginitis are two common vaginal infections that are NOT sexually transmitted.
Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is an overgrowth of normal bacteria that lives in the vagina and can cause abnormal discharge and an odor.
Candida vaginitis (yeast infection) is a fungal infection that can cause abnormal discharge and itching.
Both can be completely treated and cleared with medications, and lifestyle changes can sometimes prevent recurrent vaginal infections. While there are some over-the-counter medications available for vaginal infections, it is important to be evaluated by one of our health care providers to make sure you have the right diagnosis.
