Recurrent Pregnancy Loss
Miscarriage, or pregnancy loss, is unfortunately fairly common and occurs in as many as 15% of recognized pregnancies. The most common cause of early pregnancy loss is due to a fetal chromosomal abnormality.
If you have two or more pregnancy losses, an evaluation may be warranted to determine a cause of the losses and the appropriate management plan for future pregnancies. A workup may include genetic testing, structural evaluation of the uterus and fallopian tubes, hormone testing, and testing for a condition called Antiphospholipid Syndrome which increases risk of pregnancy loss.
