HCG Wash
Your IVF clinic may recommend an hCG wash prior to embryo transfer. HCG stands for human chorionic gonadotropin and is a hormone that is produced during pregnancy. In an IVF cycle, hCG is not present in the uterus because the embryos are in a dish as opposed to in the fallopian tube, so they do not trigger hCG production. A uterine infusion of hCG may improve IVF results by making the endometrium (uterine lining) "ready" for the embryo at the time of the transfer.
If your IVF clinic has ordered an hCG wash, please contact our office to schedule an appointment.
